More than 250 fifth graders from Van Wert, Crestview, Lincolnview, and St. Mary’s descended on downtown Van Wert at the first-ever “Let’s Get Down to Business” event hosted by Career Connections of Van Wert County on Tuesday, May 10.

Students had to decide if they had enough money left in their monthly budget to make charitable contributions.

Months of campaigning and spreading information paid off at the polls with the passage of a bond issue to renovate and improve Eggerss Stadium in downtown Van Wert.

 It was an evening for laughter, tears, and applause as students and educators at Van Wert City Schools met at Willow Bend Country Club to honor those educators who have had an impact on students as well as those who will be retiring this school year.

Robotics

The 2022 FIRST Robotics World Championships was presented in Houston, Texas, last Thursday, Friday and Saturday with the Van Wert High School Robotics Club participating in it for the first time.

On behalf of Van Wert City Schools, Kristi Fuerst, VWCS Marketing & Public Relations Specialist, accepts the Mark of Distinction award from Lou DeVincentis, OHSPRA President.

Van Wert City Schools was recognized with four professional Achievement Awards at the Ohio School Public Relations Association (OHSPRA) annual spring conference held in Columbus on April 28-29.

The Optimist Club of Van Wert awarded three Van Wert High School students as the winners of its annual essay contest. The students addressed the topic “How Does an Optimistic Mindset Change My Tomorrow?”

Robotics team bite their gold medals after advancing to the world championships

This past weekend, the Van Wert High School Robotics team competed in the big robot division at the Buckeye Regional FRC competition in Cleveland, OH with 59 teams from Ohio, New York and Pennsylvania.

Van Wert City Schools, in correlation with Ohio Revised Code 3313.64 or 3313.65, will again permit students from any Ohio school district to apply and enroll in the Van Wert City Schools system through Open Enrollment for the 2022-2023 school year.

Evan Sroufe, a senior at Van Wert High School, has been selected to perform in Cleveland on Friday, February 4, as a member of the 2022 Ohio Music Education Association’s All-State Band.
